Bofills båge, Residential complex in Södermalm, Stockholm, Sweden.
Bofills båge is a residential complex in Södermalm with a distinctive crescent-shaped main building surrounded by five additional apartment structures. The development contains around 300 apartments along with retail spaces, office areas, and underground parking facilities for residents and visitors.
The complex was built as part of transforming an old southern railway yard into modern urban blocks, designed by architect Ricardo Bofill. This project marked a turning point in Stockholm's urban development during that era.
The complex reflects Nordic design principles through its clean lines and geometric forms, shaping how residents experience their everyday surroundings. The curved shape of the main building creates a distinctive character in the neighborhood that becomes apparent as you walk through it.
The complex is located in a well-connected area with good access to other parts of Södermalm. Since it is a residential area, some sections are private spaces, so visitors should stay in the public areas around the buildings.
The construction introduced innovative precast concrete methods that were not yet common in Scandinavia at that time. This made the project an experimental example of modern building techniques in the region.
