Description
Fatburan is a former site of a water body in Södermalm that stretched from Östgötagatan to Rosenlundsgatan. Today the area is defined by residential buildings, with Fatburs Kvarngata street running from Rosenlundsgatan to Timmermansgatan.
History
A windmill was built here in the 17th century and documented from 1679 until its demolition in 1892. The area was an important resource supply for growing Stockholm at that time.
Culture
The name Fatburen comes from medieval times and means storage house, as the lake provided fresh fish for the royal castle and this resource was vital to the city.

The location is easily accessible and sits within an active residential neighborhood with various street connections. Visitors can trace the former shoreline through the layout of modern buildings.
