Cock Bridge, Arch bridge in Trnovo District, Ljubljana, Slovenia
Cock Bridge is an arch bridge made of reinforced concrete that spans the Gradaščica River in Ljubljana. It connects Gradaščica Street in Krakovo to Eipper Street in Trnovo through two horseshoe-shaped arches.
It was built in 1931 to replace an earlier wooden footbridge. The structure became part of a larger water project that reshaped how the river and its surroundings were used in the city.
The bridge takes its name from a nearby establishment called Pri petelinu, which means 'At the Rooster' in the local language. This name remains part of how people in the neighborhood remember and talk about the place.
The bridge is freely accessible and easy to find when crossing between the Krakovo and Trnovo neighborhoods. The path is well paved and the structure is sturdy enough for regular foot traffic in all seasons.
Since 2009, the bridge has held status as cultural heritage of national importance due to its connection with a notable architect. This protection recognizes it as a work of modern design that shaped thinking about urban spaces.
