Bokalce Castle

Bokalce Castle is a castle on an elevated site west of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The building stands at about 312 meters in height above a river valley and took its current form during the second half of the 17th century.

The estate was first recorded in documents in 1548, but the current castle structure came much later. The Eghk family held the property for a time before other owners took over and continued its use.

The castle displays medieval building features that reflect how people lived and worked here over the centuries. You can still observe the layout and structure of the rooms, which show the practical needs of its former inhabitants.

The castle is today in private hands and functions as residential apartments, so it is not open for public visits. Since the structure needs significant repairs, it is best viewed from outside on the surrounding grounds.

The German name Strobelhof came from a family who took over the property in the late 17th century and gave it their name. This name from a different language shows how various cultures shaped the history of this place.
