Glinščica, Stream through Podutik and Kamna Gorica neighborhoods in Ljubljana, Slovenia

Glinščica is a stream that flows through several neighborhoods of Ljubljana and joins the Gradaščica River. The waterway runs through the city with multiple bridges allowing people to cross and connecting different parts of the urban area.

The Kavšek Bridge, built in 1901, crosses the stream in Podutik and marks an important moment in the area's development. This structure emerged during a period of urban growth and modernization in Ljubljana.

The name Glinščica comes from the Slovenian word for clay, referencing the natural clay deposits found along its course. Today the stream forms part of the everyday landscape in several neighborhoods where locals move through and around it.

The stream runs through various parts of the city and there are several spots where you can walk along the water. You should know that access in some sections may be limited by urban development and buildings.

After World War II, the stream suffered contamination from the Big Brezar Shaft, which altered its natural water composition. This industrial impact remains a quiet chapter in the waterway's environmental history.
