Bang Rak

Bang Rak is an administrative district east of the Chao Phraya River with modern skyscrapers lining Si Lom and Sathon roads alongside traditional temples and markets. The mix of glass office towers and older buildings defines the area's character.

The district grew from riverside settlements into a European quarter starting in the late 1800s when King Mongkut built Charoen Krung Road. This transformation brought foreign merchants and embassies to the area.

The district is home to temples like Sri Mahamariamman and the Assumption Cathedral, where different religious communities coexist. These sacred buildings show how people from around the world have settled here and made the area their own.

The area connects well to Bangkok's public transit system through the Silom Line of BTS Skytrain, Blue Line MRT, and Chao Phraya Express Boat services. You will find small restaurants and cafés scattered throughout the side streets for eating and drinking.

The district concentrates a large number of jobs in a relatively small space, making it one of Bangkok's most important business centers. The tight mix of offices and older structures creates an interesting contrast throughout the urban area.
