Merzifon

Merzifon lies on a vast plain encircled by mountains at coordinates 40°52′30″N latitude and 35°27′48″E longitude, encompassing an area of 888 square kilometers.

The region traces its origins to Persian rule when it was known as Marzban, later transitioning through Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman control over centuries.

The Karamustafapasa Mosque, constructed in 1666, stands as the primary architectural monument with its grand dome, painted portico, and ornate ritual washing fountain.

The district contains seventy villages and maintains strong transportation connections to major cities through highways linking Istanbul, Ankara, and the Black Sea coast.

The district includes the remains of Anatolia College, established in 1886, which served as a significant educational institution before the demographic changes of World War I.
