Amasya Province, Administrative province in northern Turkey
Amasya Province stretches across 5,628 square kilometers of fertile plains intersected by the Yeşilırmak, Çekerek, and Tersakan rivers in the Black Sea Region.
The province's capital, historically known as Amaseia, served as the administrative center of the Kingdom of Pontus and later received metropolis status under Roman rule.
The Ottoman Empire established multiple madrassas in Amasya Province, transforming the region into an educational center and training ground for future sultans.
The province maintains its agricultural strength through extensive apple orchards, tobacco fields, and the cultivation of peaches, cherries, and okra.
Ancient rock tombs carved into limestone cliffs along the Yeşilırmak River stand as monuments to the Hellenistic period rulers of Pontus.
