Varda Viaduct, Railway bridge in Karaisalı, Turkey
The stone railway viaduct spans 172 meters across the Çakıt Valley, rising 98 meters above the water through eleven connected arches.
German engineers constructed this viaduct between 1905 and 1916 as part of the Baghdad Railway project connecting Istanbul to Baghdad.
Minister of War Enver Pasha made the first official crossing of the viaduct in February 1917, marking its importance in Ottoman infrastructure.
The nearest railway station, Hacıkırı, stands 500 meters from the viaduct and provides regular train services for passengers crossing the valley.
The viaduct appeared in the opening chase sequence of the 2012 James Bond film Skyfall, bringing international attention to this engineering structure.
