Alacahöyük, Archaeological complex in Çorum Province, Turkey.
The archaeological site features a monumental entrance gate with sphinx sculptures and stone reliefs depicting ceremonial processions and hunting scenes.
The settlement contains fourteen distinct layers spanning from 4000 BC through the Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, Hittite, and Phrygian periods until 750 BC.
Excavations revealed thirteen royal tombs containing gold artifacts, sun disks, and bronze figurines that demonstrate advanced metallurgy skills of early Anatolian societies.
The site museum displays local findings across two floors while the major artifacts, including original sphinxes and reliefs, are housed in Ankara's Museum of Anatolian Civilizations.
A 13th century BC dam measuring 135 by 150 meters with clay walls and limestone coating continues to provide irrigation water for local agriculture.
