Gate of Felicity, Palace entrance gate in Topkapı Palace, Turkey
The Gate of Felicity features a dome supported by marble pillars and stands as the entrance to the Third Courtyard of Topkapı Palace.
Built during the late 15th century under Mehmed II, this gate underwent renovations in 1774 when Sultan Mustafa III added Rococo style decorations.
The Sultan would sit before this gate on his Bayram throne during religious ceremonies, while the banner of Muhammad would be unfurled at a marked stone.
The gate marks the boundary between public and private palace areas, requiring specific authorization for passage during the Ottoman period.
The gate's ceiling contains gold leaf decorations and a suspended golden sphere, with baroque elements and miniature landscape paintings on its walls.
