Wanhua Lin's Mansion, Historic mansion in Wanhua District, Taiwan.

Wanhua Lin's Mansion is a four-story building in Wanhua District with a distinctive four-sided shape. The exterior walls combine biscuit porcelain and Japanese red bricks in one continuous design, while the ground floor holds a cafe and the upper levels house exhibition rooms with family objects and photographs.

Construction finished in 1935 using advanced techniques like reinforced concrete and recycled railway tracks for strength. These building methods showed early examples of modern construction technology in Taiwan at that time.

The prayer hall on the top floor shows how Chinese, Japanese, and Western design elements come together visually. This blend reflects the connections the family maintained across different cultures.

You can reach this place easily without a car since it sits in an accessible urban area. The cafe on the ground floor works well as a spot to get oriented before heading upstairs to the exhibition rooms.

The cement came specifically from Asano Cement Company, showing how Japanese industrial products flowed early into Taiwanese building projects. This choice of materials was uncommon at that time and marks a rare case of early international cooperation in construction.
