Ai-Todor, 19th-century estate and sanatorium complex in Gaspra, Russia

Ai-Todor is an estate and sanatorium complex in Gaspra situated along the Black Sea coast in southern Russia, featuring multiple buildings with ornate balconies and wide terraces. The property includes structured gardens that overlook the surrounding coastal landscape.

Prince Mikhail Romanov, brother of Emperor Alexander II, acquired this property in 1869 and established it as the largest aristocratic estate of that period. An Art Nouveau palace was built on the grounds in 1890.

The complex blends Gothic style elements with classical bas-reliefs that reflect how Russian nobility decorated their homes during the 1800s. These architectural details show the artistic choices that wealthy families made when building their residences.

The site operates as a children's sanatorium, which means access to the main buildings and grounds is limited for general visitors. Those interested in viewing the property should check in advance about visitor access possibilities.

A farmer-themed bas-relief carved into the stonework is one of the few surviving decorative elements from the original palace built around 1890. This detail offers a rare glimpse into the artistic craftsmanship that adorned the grounds when the estate was at its height.
