Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, Historic site in New York, US
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory was a garment factory in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York City.
In 1911, the factory was the site of one of the deadliest industrial disasters in the history of the city when a fire broke out on its 8th floor.
The fire led to legislation requiring improved factory safety standards and helped spur the growth of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union.
Visitors can find the factory at the corner of Greene Street and Washington Place, now known as the Brown Building of Science.
Despite its grim history, the location is now part of the New York University.
