Grove, city in Delaware County, Oklahoma, United States
Grove is a small city in Oklahoma located in Delaware County next to Grand Lake o' the Cherokees. The city sits on gently rolling hills right beside the water, with local shops, restaurants, and recreation facilities centered around water activities and outdoor enjoyment.
Grove was founded in the late 1800s and named for the trees in the area. The city connected to the railroad in 1900, which spurred growth, and later became the county seat of Delaware County, though train service ended around 1940.
The city takes its name from the groves of trees that early settlers found when they arrived. Today visitors can explore pioneer life at Har-Ber Village Museum and visit the Split-Log Church built by a Native American in the late 1800s, where mission bells ring daily.
Visitors reach Grove via US Route 59 and can enjoy fishing, boating, and water sports on Grand Lake o' the Cherokees year-round, with peak activity during warmer months. Parks, hiking trails, and a small regional airport for private planes make the city easy to explore.
Grove hosted the prestigious Bassmaster Classic in 2013 and again in 2016, two of the largest fishing tournaments in North America. A dam built in the 1930s created Grand Lake, transforming the city into an established fishing and water sports destination.
