Audi Field, Soccer stadium in Buzzard Point, Washington DC, United States
Audi Field is a soccer stadium in Buzzard Point, Washington DC, built for professional matches with a capacity of around 20,000 spectators and a rectangular playing surface. The facility spans several levels with seating and standing areas, complemented by restaurants and bars inside that open during events.
Planning for a new stadium stretched over a decade because different locations and funding models were discussed before groundbreaking took place in February 2017. The arena opened in July 2018, replacing the old RFK Stadium as the home of local teams.
The soccer arena takes its name from Audi, the German automaker that purchased the naming rights and whose branding appears at several points throughout the building. Visitors can experience the fan culture of local supporters on match days, who bring songs and banners and gather in the stands.
The nearest subway station is about a 10-minute walk from the entrance and provides direct access from downtown Washington. On match days, arriving by public transport is recommended because streets around the grounds are often heavily traveled.
Besides soccer matches, the facility houses a betting hall that opens daily and displays screens with live broadcasts from other sports leagues. Visitors can enter the space even without a match ticket and experience the atmosphere around sports.
