DB Draw, Railway swing bridge in Secaucus, United States.
DB Draw is a railway swing bridge that crosses the Hackensack River, connecting Secaucus and Kearny. It carries a single track and features a mechanical pivot system that rotates the span to allow river traffic to pass through.
The bridge was built in 1889 by the New York, Lake Erie and Western Railroad and became part of the Erie Railroad network in 1895. It was decommissioned in October 2002 and ceased regular rail operations.
The bridge represents the industrial expansion of New Jersey's railway system, serving as a vital link for both freight and passenger transportation across the Hackensack River.
The bridge remains in an open position and is no longer operational for train traffic. Visitors can view it from nearby riverbank paths or local roads, though access and visibility vary depending on the season and viewpoint.
The structure uses a mechanical pivot system from the 1880s that could rotate the entire bridge along its length. This engineering approach allowed large vessels to pass beneath without requiring the bridge to be dismantled.
