The Darlington Trail is a hiking route that runs for nearly 8 miles through Pennsylvania's mountain landscape. The path crosses Blue Mountain Ridge with steep descents, rocky sections, and several stream crossings along the way.
The trail was established in 1908 by a local hiking club and named after a bishop from Harrisburg. The route has been maintained over time by hiking groups and connected with other regional paths.
The Susquehanna Appalachian Trail Club maintains this path, which connects to both the Tuscarora Trail and Appalachian Trail at its western terminus.
Sturdy footwear is important to safely navigate the rocky areas and find footing at stream crossings. The path can become muddy after rain, so hikers should watch for slippery spots and signs of erosion.
