Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, Educational farmstead in Overland Park, United States
Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead is a 12-acre property in Overland Park with more than 250 animals, including livestock, birds of prey, and native Kansas species spread across distinct habitats. The grounds are divided into separate areas where visitors can encounter animals and explore historic buildings.
The site began as Community Park in 1978 and took its current name in 1985 to honor Officer Deanna Rose of the Overland Park Police Department. This renaming recognized her service and importance to the community.
The farmstead displays a Kanza Native American camp, a blacksmith workshop, and a historic one-room schoolhouse. These spaces show visitors how people in Kansas lived and worked in earlier times.
From April through October, visitors can purchase animal feed, participate in goat bottle feeding sessions, and enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides. It helps to wear appropriate clothing and allow time to explore the different animal areas at your own pace.
The Cinemoo Moovie Theater presents Kansas dairy farming history through an engaging show format. Children can try hands-on farm tasks at learning stations and gain a feel for real farm work.
