Bazar Square

Bazar Square is a historical marketplace in Old City Baku, located north of the Maiden Tower, featuring stone-paved surfaces and traditional buildings. A cylindrical well structure sits at the center of this open trading space.

The site emerged as a religious complex during the 12th and 13th centuries, as revealed by archaeological excavations in 1964. The discovery of 52 graves near sacred areas indicates a long history of spiritual significance.

The square embodies the Shirvan-Absheron building style through its eight-pointed column and tiered stone platform. You can observe how vendors still arrange their goods around this historical setting.

The square is accessible through the narrow streets of Old City Baku, where local vendors sell traditional goods throughout the day. You can walk through freely and explore at your own pace.
