Sedemte ezera hut, Mountain hut in Rila Mountains, Bulgaria
Sedemte ezera hut is a wooden shelter at 2196 meters elevation near Ribnoto Lake in the Rila Mountains. The two-story structure houses around 92 guests and serves as a base for hikers and climbers exploring the Seven Rila Lakes region.
The hut was built in 1932 and has remained a key support point for mountain travelers in the Rila Alps since then. Its long-standing presence made it an important landmark in Bulgaria's mountaineering history.
The hut serves as a gathering point each August when members of the White Brotherhood arrive for their annual Paneurhythmie celebration in the mountains. This event brings together people who share spiritual practices and mountain traditions in this remote location.
The hut is not easily accessible and requires hiking through alpine terrain to reach it. Visitors should prepare for basic facilities, including external bathrooms and heating from wood-burning stoves.
A small ski slope with a surface lift operates right next to the hut, allowing winter sports directly from the accommodation. This unusual pairing of services makes it a rare spot where winter skiers and summer hikers use the same base.
