Monforte del Cid

Monforte del Cid is a municipality in Alicante Province that stretches across mountainous corridors and interior plains within the Vinalopó district. The area encompasses several settlements, including the village of Orito, which serves as a religious center.

The settlement was originally called Nompot in the 13th century and underwent several name changes including Monfort and Monforte de la Rambla. The current name Monforte del Cid reflects the long history of the place.

The village of Orito within the municipality serves as a pilgrimage destination where people come to venerate Saint Paschal Baylón in the local church. This religious site remains an important place for spiritual reflection and community gatherings throughout the year.

The municipality is located about 21 kilometers from Alicante and has direct access to the A-31 road network. Visitors can reach the area easily by car and explore the various villages and settlements.

The area sits at an elevation of about 230 meters and is framed by the mountain ranges of Sierra del Cid and Sierra de las Aguilas. This mountainous setting creates varied landscapes with different views and walking paths.
