Urdazubi/Urdax

Urdazubi/Urdax covers 7.75 square kilometers at 90 meters elevation, featuring traditional stone houses and narrow streets that showcase centuries of Basque architectural heritage and rural settlement patterns throughout the region.

The Monastery of Urdax was founded in the 11th century by Augustinian monks, serving as a pilgrim hospital on the Way of St. James before suffering fires in 1526 and 1793 that led to Renaissance-style reconstruction.

Located within the Basque-speaking zone of Navarre, this municipality preserves Basque language and customs through local festivals celebrating traditional music, dance, and culinary practices passed down through generations of residents.
