Naranjo de Bulnes / Picu Urriellu, Limestone summit in Picos de Europa, Spain

The Naranjo de Bulnes rises to 2,518 meters with vertical walls extending 550 meters on its western face within the Cantabrian Mountains.

Pedro Pidal completed the first recorded ascent in 1904, accompanied by shepherd Gregorio Perez, establishing the northern route now known as Via Pidal.

Local inhabitants maintain their preference for the name Picu Urriellu over Naranjo de Bulnes, reflecting their connection to Asturian heritage.

The Refugio de Urriellu mountain shelter, located 423 meters northwest of the peak, provides accommodation for climbers preparing to tackle the summit.

The mountain presents four distinct climbing faces, with the western wall containing some of Spain's most technically demanding climbing routes.
