Mirador del Tombo, Mountain viewpoint in Posada de Valdeón, Spain
The observation point extends across a rock formation offering a complete view of the Picos de Europa peaks and the Valdeón Valley below.
The viewpoint was officially opened on August 10, 1964, by Manuel Fraga Iribarne during his tenure as Minister of Information and Tourism.
The site features an iron cross and a stone column with a chamois sculpture created by artist José Luis Coomonte representing local mountain heritage.
Located 50 meters from the Cares River, the viewpoint includes an engraved guide identifying visible mountain peaks for visitors to reference.
From this location, visitors can observe Monte Corona, where according to records Don Pelayo was chosen as the leader of Christian forces.
