Playa Blanca, Beach resort in Yaiza, Spain.
Playa Blanca is a coastal settlement in southern Lanzarote that stretches along several beaches with golden sand and clear Atlantic waters. The seafront promenade connects different beach sections and passes low white buildings housing shops, restaurants, and accommodations.
The fishing village transformed into a resort town starting in the 1980s, when hotels and tourism facilities were built. Development changed the coastline and brought new infrastructure for visitors from across Europe.
The name refers to the white buildings and light sand that shape the appearance of the coastline. Local fishers sell their morning catch directly at the harbor, where visitors can watch boats arrive and unload baskets of fresh fish from the ocean.
The beaches offer facilities such as showers, changing cabins, and umbrella rental during the main season. Access to the water is mostly flat and sandy, making swimming easier for visitors of different ages.
Boat connections to Fuerteventura depart several times daily and cross the Bocaina Strait in about 25 minutes. This short crossing allows day trips to another Canary Island without spending long hours traveling.
