Góriz

Góriz is a mountain hut located at about 2160 meters elevation in the Ordesa-Monte Perdido National Park in the Aragonese Pyrenees. It provides basic facilities and sleeping accommodations for approximately 70 visitors, along with water, showers, and cooking areas.

The hut was founded in 1963 as a response to growing interest in mountaineering in the region. It helped establish organized mountaineering as a safer and more accessible activity across the Aragonese peaks.

The refuge serves as a gathering place where hikers and climbers from around the world meet during their mountain journeys. It connects people who share a passion for exploring high peaks and mountain trails.

Visitors should book accommodations in advance because spaces fill up quickly, especially during summer months. Bring warm clothing and sturdy footwear, and expect basic mountain conditions at this high elevation.

A caretaker lives at the hut year-round, providing visitors with essential information about routes and mountain conditions. It consistently records more overnight stays than any other mountain shelter in the Aragonese Pyrenees.
