Stellantis Vigo Plant, Spanish car manufacturing and assembly plant
The Stellantis Vigo Plant is a large automobile factory in Vigo, Galicia, spanning a broad site with multiple production areas. Here, work processes including stamping, welding, painting, and assembly take place, with raw materials and parts gradually transformed into finished vehicles.
The factory was founded by Citroën in 1958 and began producing small vehicles such as the AZU minibus. After decades of growth and several ownership changes, it is now part of Stellantis and ranks among Europe's largest automobile production facilities.
The plant carries the name of Stellantis, its current parent company, though locals still often refer to it as the former Citroën factory. Daily work here is built on teamwork, with workers from different backgrounds coming together in coordinated shifts to contribute to vehicle production.
The site is most active on working days and during production peaks, with regular arrival and departure of trucks and vehicles. Visitors should know that the factory is primarily a working facility, and access may be limited to specific areas such as the visitor center.
The plant produced over one million units of the Citroën C15 between 1984 and 2005, one of Europe's most successful light vans. This remarkable output shows how closely the factory was tied to developing practical vehicles for European markets.
