Ensanche de Vallecas

Ensanche de Vallecas features contemporary apartment buildings, planned green spaces, and wide avenues arranged in a structured grid pattern across the southeastern area of Madrid.

The Madrid City Council approved the creation of this administrative neighborhood on May 31, 2017, following an urban development program to expand the Villa de Vallecas district.

The neighborhood incorporates public art installations and murals throughout its streets, reflecting the modern interpretation of Madrid's residential areas and community spaces.

The area connects to central Madrid through Valdecarros metro station and contains numerous educational facilities, sports centers, and the extensive La Gavia shopping complex.

The district emerged from a public naming consultation where residents proposed two options, with La Gavia receiving 1,801 votes and Ensanche de Vallecas getting 1,159 votes.
