King Alfonso I ordered the construction of this church after the 1120 reconquest to honor French soldiers who supported the Christian campaign.
The church combines Islamic architectural elements with Christian symbolism, displaying a gilded retablo with Baroque Solomonic columns from 1654.
The church maintains regular visiting hours and stands near the center of Calatayud, with access from Via la Rua street.
The adjacent Mudéjar tower exhibits a noticeable tilt over the street, making it a distinct architectural element in the cityscape.
