Bullring of Calatayud, Bullring in Calatayud, Spain

The bullring of Calatayud is a circular structure with three tiers of seating capacity for roughly 8800 spectators. Built in the 19th century, the arena features a sand floor enclosed by walls and offers clear sightlines from every level.

Construction was completed in 1877 by architect Mariano Medarde, creating an important venue for the town. Since opening, it has been the location where bullfighting events and local festivals take place.

The name references Saint Roque, whose festival in August intertwines with the bullfighting tradition in the town. During these celebrations, locals and visitors gather to witness events that hold deep meaning in the community's identity.

Access is easiest during the festival periods in August when the venue is most active. Visitors should check in advance whether events are scheduled before making a trip to the location.

Beyond the August festivals, events are also held during the Virgin of the Pena celebration in early September. This lesser-known celebration brings together visitors who want to remember this special occasion.
