Castle of San Pedro de Latarce, Medieval fortress in San Pedro de Latarce, Spain.
The circular defensive wall stretches 350 meters around the perimeter, reaching heights of 12 meters and maintaining a consistent width of 2.4 meters.
The castle served as a strategic outpost during the Roman period and later became a frontier stronghold between the kingdoms of Castile and Leon.
The Knights Templar received ownership of the castle in the early 13th century through an exchange agreement with King Alfonso IX.
Visitors can freely explore the exterior grounds, while interior access requires coordination with the town hall during office hours.
Archaeological excavations in 2011 revealed the original entrance gate and tower beneath 5 meters of accumulated soil within the enclosure.
