Playa de Cabria, Almuñécar

Playa de Cabria is a small cove with dark sand and pebbles, nestled between rocky cliffs along the Mediterranean shore. The bay is sheltered by surrounding hills that create calmer water conditions compared to more exposed nearby beaches.

The Torre de los Diablos watchtower nearby dates back to when pirate raids and invasions threatened the coastal settlements regularly. This fortified outpost was one of many defense towers dotted along the entire southern coast to warn of approaching danger.

The fishing families who have worked these waters for generations still maintain their presence here, with traditional boats visible along the shore. Local dining spots serve the catch of the day prepared using time-honored coastal recipes passed down through the community.

The beach has showers, restrooms, and sun bed rentals available on-site, with parking accessible from a nearby road. Bring water and sun protection as the location between cliffs offers limited shade options.

The dark sand here stands out from lighter beaches in the region due to the volcanic geology of the area. This darker composition retains more heat and creates a different feel underfoot compared to neighboring shores.
