Cavall d'en Borràs beach, Mediterranean beach in Formentera, Spain
Cavall d'en Borràs is a beach with fine white sand and turquoise shallow waters facing the Mediterranean. The shoreline features a natural dune system backed by juniper groves that create shelter from the inland side.
The beach was named after a horse owned by Antonio Borràs in the 1800s, who ran the salt flats of Formentera. This link to salt production established the site's historical ties to the island's main economic activity.
The beach sits at the edge of a protected natural park where salt-resistant plants and juniper thrive in the sandy soil. Visitors encounter a landscape shaped by the region's salt-production heritage and coastal ecosystem.
The beach sits about 2 kilometers from La Savina port and offers lifeguard services, a restaurant, and sun loungers. Marked swimming zones with buoys help visitors find safe water areas.
From this location, visitors can spot the rocky silhouettes of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell islands rising from the sea on clear days. This view takes on a special quality as the sun dips toward the horizon.

Formentera offers beaches with soft white sand, rocky coves, and lighthouses that show its maritime history. In the north, Ses Illetes and S'Espalmador welcome visitors with sandy stretches that stick out of the blue-green water. Further south, Migjorn spreads out over a long distance, with different spots to relax. When exploring the Ses Salines nature park and climbing the lighthouses at La Mola and Cabo de Berberia, you see great views of the Mediterranean. Small bays like Calo Des Mort and Cala Saona reveal a still lively underwater world, where clear water shows the sea life around the rocks. The island invites gentle exploration. You can walk along wooden paths by the coast, stroll on sandy beaches in red or white depending on the place, and look for old fishing huts that dot the shore. Every part of Formentera tells its own story, of a place where sea, sand, and rocks live side by side, creating different landscapes that are easy to get to. The pace here slows down naturally. Just follow the trails and coastlines to see the beauty of the Balearic shoreline.
