Campo Grande, Urban park in central Valladolid, Spain.
Campo Grande is an urban park in central Valladolid with pathways, gardens, and water features surrounded by three main avenues of the city. The space covers over 100,000 square meters with several defined areas for walking and sitting.
The space began in 1787 as an open field and underwent several name changes including Field of Mars and Field of the Fair before becoming a public park. The aviaries were added in the early 1900s to provide animal displays for the public.
The aviaries showcase a tradition of bringing together animals and nature at the city's core for people to enjoy. Visitors can watch Japanese roosters and other bird species up close, making the park a place where locals come to connect with wildlife.
There are multiple entrances around the park, with the main one at Plaza Zorrilla. It is easily accessible by bus and located south of the city center.
The park holds more than 60 tree species from different regions around the world, including Chinese palms and cedar of Lebanon. This botanical variety makes the space a living collection where plants from distant lands flourish.
