Arco de Ladrillo, Valladolid

The brick structure rises over the Madrid-Hendaya railway line with a 30-meter span and central curvature radius of 23 meters.

Built in 1856, this arch marked the beginning of railway infrastructure in Valladolid, preceding the arrival of the first train service.

The arch demonstrates the rivalry between iron and brick construction during the late 19th century through its ornamental design.

The structure contains 147,276 solid bricks weighing 800 tons, with asymmetrical bases measuring 6.50 and 6.62 meters in width respectively.

Two people standing at opposite ends of the arch can hear each other clearly while someone in the middle cannot detect their conversation.
