Galacho de Juslibol, Nature reserve near Zaragoza, Spain.
Galacho de Juslibol is a nature reserve spanning about 100 hectares of wetlands, shallow lakes, and river habitats along the Ebro. The landscape displays the curved channels and water bodies that form naturally where rivers shift their paths over time.
The area formed through the natural movements of the Ebro River over geological time, leaving behind the distinctive curves and channels visible today. This ongoing process shaped how water flows through the reserve.
The name comes from the geological term for the curved riverbed shape found here. Visitors notice how locals value this place as a refuge where nature develops without interference.
The reserve has two visitor centers with drinking water, restrooms, and places to leave bicycles, plus play areas for children. The pathways are mostly accessible and easy to navigate for visitors of all ages.
This area serves as a critical stopover for migratory birds traveling between northern and southern regions, where they rest during their journey. The waters and reed beds provide essential food and shelter along their annual migration routes.
