La Quinta, Neoclassical palace in El Pito, Cudillero, Spain
La Quinta is a neoclassical palace surrounded by nine hectares of gardens. These gardens are divided into French, Italian, and English sections, each with its own distinct landscaping approach.
The brothers Ezequiel and Fortunato de Selgas built this complex between 1880 and 1895, adding art collections and period furniture. The estate represents the architectural thinking of the late 19th century and their vision of combining a home with an art space.
Inside you find rooms decorated in different styles from the 17th and 18th centuries, with paintings from old masters and decorative objects from various periods. The furnishings and artworks come from different countries and eras, showing the passion of the collectors who built this place.
The property has been managed by the Selgas-Fagalde Foundation since 1992 and offers guided tours of the palace and gardens. The best time to visit is during the warmer months when the gardens are fully green and flowering.
Two monumental gates mark the entrance to the estate, with the main gate forming a triumphal arch. This architectural element gives visitors an impression of grandeur right from the approach to the property.
