Monasterio de Santo Domingo el Real

The Monasterio de Santo Domingo el Real displays Renaissance architecture with three main courtyards: Rose, Moral, and Saint Martin de Porres.

Founded in 1364 by noblewoman Inés García de Meneses after becoming a widow, this monastery became the first Dominican convent for women in Toledo.

The monastery archives contain letters from King Pedro's descendants and houses the remains of Sancho de Castilla in its Baroque main altarpiece.

The church entrance features a portico with four Doric stone columns leading to three access doors that open to a rectangular nave with three side chapels.

María de Castilla, the illegitimate daughter of King Pedro I, and her mother Teresa de Ayala both took their religious vows at this monastery.
