Costa Alegre, Golden sand beach in Mogán, Spain

Costa Alegre is a sand beach in Mogán extending about 55 meters along the shore with fine golden sand protected by an artificial breakwater made of sand and gravel. The beach offers rental chairs and umbrellas as well as showers and restroom facilities for visitors.

Costa Alegre is an artificial cove in Arguineguín, created during the coastal development of Mogán in the late 20th century, when the sandy shoreline was reshaped and a breakwater of sand and gravel was built to hold the beach in place. The works turned a stretch of open coast into a sheltered bathing area for the growing resort town.

Costa Alegre takes its name from the surrounding residential area of Arguineguín, and local families use the cove for morning swims before the sun reaches the sand. The beach is a common setting for small birthday gatherings and informal volleyball games on the sand.

Costa Alegre sits at the southern end of Arguineguín's seafront, reached on foot from the town centre along the coastal walk. The sand slopes gently into the water, and the artificial breakwater shelters the swimming area. Showers and restrooms stand at the back of the beach, with rental chairs and umbrellas available on the sand.

Costa Alegre lies in the Arguineguín resort area of Mogán, on Gran Canaria's sheltered south-west coast, where the breakwater shields the cove from the open Atlantic swell. The bay's calm water has made it a favoured spot for open-water swimming and for marriage proposals at sunset.
