Tuomaansilta, Road bridge in Turku, Finland
Tuomaansilta crosses the Aura River with a length of 93 meters (305 feet) and a width of 22 meters (72 feet), connecting two different districts of Turku. The structure accommodates vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists moving between the northwestern and southeastern parts of the city.
The bridge opened in 1999 as a major addition to Turku's transportation network. It significantly improved connections between districts that had been relatively isolated from each other.
The bridge forms part of the active riverside paths where people walk and experience the city from the water's edge. It connects two neighborhoods that feel quite separate, bringing together residents and visitors who cross between the northwestern and southeastern areas.
Several bus lines serve the area near the bridge, making it easy to reach from different parts of the city. Walking or cycling across the bridge offers good views, especially when the weather is clear.
The bridge sits between two other river crossings: the Aurajoki railway bridge upstream and the Tuomiokirkkosilta downstream. This arrangement creates a sequence of passages that shape how people navigate and experience the river corridor.
