Campus 4 de Caen, University complex in northern Caen, France.
Campus 4 is an educational complex in Caen that houses several departments for economics, business administration, and engineering along Claude Bloch Street. The buildings are laid out to accommodate different academic programs and student services within a connected site.
Campus 4 took its current form in 2007 when the Faculty of Economics and Management relocated to a former EDF training center on Claude Bloch Street. This conversion of an existing building allowed the consolidation of several academic programs at one location.
The campus takes its name from Claude Bloch, a respected economist whose work shaped French academic circles. Different departments share spaces here, creating a blend of disciplines working side by side.
The site is easy to reach by tram T2 as well as bus lines 6A and 6B, offering several transportation options. The campus layout is clearly marked with signs, and main entry points and facilities are well indicated so visitors can navigate easily.
The site was adapted from a former training center of a utility company, showing how buildings can be repurposed for new academic uses. This reuse of existing infrastructure allowed the university to meet modern educational needs without building from scratch.
