Rhinoceros, Cast iron sculpture at Musée d'Orsay, France.

The Rhinoceros sculpture stands at 2.86 meters tall and 2.29 meters wide, displaying the massive animal in precise anatomical detail through cast iron construction.

Created for the 1878 Exposition Universelle, the sculpture initially adorned the Palais du Trocadéro before its relocation to Porte de Saint-Cloud and finally Musée d'Orsay.

The sculpture represents the French artistic interest in exotic animal representations during the late 19th century, when natural history gained scientific importance.

Visitors can observe the Rhinoceros sculpture in the forecourt of Musée d'Orsay, where it stands among other significant outdoor artworks from the same period.

The J. Voruz Aîné foundry in Nantes manufactured this three-ton cast iron masterwork, which required specialized restoration by the Coubertin foundry in 1986.
