Olib

Olib is a small island settlement on the Dalmatian coast with sandy beaches on its western side and Mediterranean plants throughout. The community spreads across the island with homes connected by paths where cars do not travel.

The settlement appears in written records from the 10th century under a different historical name. These early documents show that people have lived on this island for over a thousand years.

The parish church houses old religious manuscripts that show the island's long spiritual tradition. Visitors can see these signs of faith reflected in the community today.

Visitors walk on paths or travel by small vehicles like golf carts since regular cars do not operate on the island. This quiet way of moving around makes it easy to explore different areas and beaches.

The island receives drinking water through an underwater pipeline from the mainland and through rainwater collection in private cisterns. This arrangement shows how residents have adapted to the challenge of supplying water to a remote island community.
