Delvin, Medieval village in County Meath, Ireland

Located at the intersection of N52 and N51 roads, Delvin extends across 100 townlands and includes two lakes within its boundaries.

Hugh de Lacy constructed Delvin Castle in 1181 for Gilbert de Nugent, who received the title Baron of Delvin within the Lordship of Meath.

The name Delvin originates from Delbhna, denoting an Irish tribe that established settlements in this region alongside the Soghain branch.

The village population increased from 270 to 740 residents between 2002 and 2016, with three national primary schools serving the local community.

Sir Thomas Chapman, father of T.E. Lawrence, resided in a manor house near Delvin during his childhood years.
