Avshalom Cave

The cave extends 83 meters in length and 60 meters in width, containing formations of stalactites and stalagmites throughout its 5,000 square meter interior.

Quarrying activities led to the accidental discovery of the cave in May 1968, after which its location remained undisclosed for several years to protect its features.

The site bears the name of Avshalom Shoham, an Israeli soldier who died during the War of Attrition, while also being known as Soreq Cave.

Visitors can access the cave through guided tours that include educational information about geological processes and historical climate patterns of the Eastern Mediterranean.

The cave maintains constant temperature and humidity levels throughout the year, with some stalactites reaching four meters in length and dating back 300,000 years.
