Tel Yarmuth, Archaeological site in Jerusalem District, Israel

Tel Yarmuth is an archaeological site in the Jerusalem District that spreads across a large area with multiple layers of ancient settlement visible today. Excavations have uncovered building remains, fortification walls, and everyday objects that reveal how people lived in this region long ago.

The site was inhabited during the Early Bronze Age and shows signs of settlement, growth, and later abandonment over several centuries. Archaeological work began in the 1970s and helped clarify the development of early settlements in the Levant region.

Scientists discovered a monumental structure known as the White Building, which functioned as a temple with a side altar during the Early Bronze Age.

The site is located near Beit Shemesh and can be reached from Jerusalem if you allow time for travel. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for uneven ground, as the ancient remains are spread across a large area.

A remarkable white stone structure from ancient times was found at this location and stands as one of the early examples of monumental architecture. This discovery helped researchers better place the chronological sequence of this distant era.
