Mahseya, Agricultural moshav in Mateh Yehuda Regional Council, Israel
Mahseya is an agricultural moshav in the Mateh Yehuda Regional Council, located roughly two kilometers east of Beit Shemesh at an elevation of 255 meters in the Judean hills. The settlement features both residential neighborhoods and active farming zones.
The moshav was founded in 1950 during an active period of settlement development across the region. This was a time when many new communities were being established throughout Israel.
Residents come from diverse backgrounds including India, Yemen, Iraq, and Eastern Europe, bringing different traditions to daily life here. This diversity shapes how people interact and work together in the settlement.
The site is set among rolling hills and is best explored on foot to see the different residential areas and farming zones. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes as the terrain has slopes and uneven paths, especially when walking between fields.
Local farmers operate goat cheese farms that have become known in the region for their quality products. This focus on artisanal food production distinguishes the settlement from other agricultural communities nearby.
