Abaya Pradhan Temple, Hindu temple in Palakkad district, India.
The Abaya Pradhan Temple sits on the banks of the Bharathappuzha River and contains five separate shrines dedicated to both Shiva and Vishnu. The complex displays the distinctive Dravidian architectural style characteristic of South Indian temples.
The temple was founded over 2000 years ago by the sage Parasurama and holds its place among the 108 sacred Shiva temples across Kerala. It represents one of the oldest religious sites in the region with a continuous tradition of worship.
The temple functions as a Mumurthi Kshetra, a place where you can observe worship of the Hindu trinity through daily rituals and ceremonies. Local devotees gather here regularly to participate in traditional practices that define the spiritual rhythm of the community.
The temple opens daily with two visiting windows in the early morning and evening hours. It is best to dress appropriately and respect the ongoing rituals and practices observed at the site.
The shrines house four different forms of Vishnu alongside one representation of Shiva, making the site both a Shivalayam and a significant destination for dual worship. This combination of two major deities under one roof is locally uncommon and draws pilgrims with diverse spiritual intentions.
