Kattakampal Temple

Kattakampal Temple is a Hindu temple in Thrissur district featuring a dual-sanctorum layout with Shiva facing east and Kattakampal Bhagavathy facing west within a two-acre property. The complex displays Kerala-style architecture with multiple subsidiary shrines dedicated to other deities throughout the grounds.

The temple dates back approximately 2000 years and stands among the 108 Shiva Temples of Kerala established by sage Parasurama. This connection to one of the region's oldest temple traditions illustrates its deep historical roots.

The site hosts an annual seven-day Pooram festival in April or May, where traditional performances including the Kali-Darika war enactment unfold. These celebrations reflect the devotional life of the region and bring together visitors who witness the colorful rituals and music that define the occasion.

The temple is located roughly 30 kilometers from Thrissur city, 8 kilometers from Kunnamkulam, and 12 kilometers from Guruvayoor. Visitors come throughout the year, so it helps to plan local transportation and prepare for varying crowds depending on the season.
